# Open Your Dashboard

The SpamFoo Dashboard shows how SpamFoo handled your mail and lets you adjust it. This page explains how to open it and what you'll see.

## Open It From SmarterMail

If your mail runs on SmarterMail, you open the dashboard from webmail. You don't need a separate password.

1. Sign in to SmarterMail webmail.
2. Go to your email.
3. Open the actions menu and choose **SpamFoo Dashboard**.

The dashboard opens in a new window. For more about SpamFoo inside webmail, see [What SmarterMail Users See](https://help.spamfoo.com/integrations/smartermail/users).

> **Don't see the link?** The **SpamFoo Dashboard** link only appears when your administrator has turned on SpamFoo for your domain. Ask your administrator.

## Open It on Other Mail Servers

On other mail servers, your administrator or your mail system gives you a sign-in link. Ask your administrator if you don't have one.

1. Open the sign-in link. A **Sign in to SpamFoo** page appears.
2. Click **Continue**.

Each link works only once and expires after a short time, usually 15 minutes. After you sign in, you stay signed in for 24 hours while you use the dashboard. If the page says **This sign-in link cannot be used**, the link expired or was already used. Ask for a new one.

If you go to the dashboard address directly, you may see a **Sign in to SpamFoo** page that asks for a **Proxy secret**. That page is only for the administrator of the server. It gives full control of SpamFoo, so users don't sign in there.

## What You See

The menu on the left depends on your role. Your role appears in the top right corner of the dashboard.

- **User:** The **My Email** menu, with **Overview**, **My Messages**, and **My Rules**. It covers your own mailbox only.
- **Domain Admin:** The same **My Email** menu, plus a **Domain Admin** menu with **Domain Overview**, **Mailboxes**, **Rules**, and **Anti-Phishing**. It covers your own mailbox, plus totals, rules, and Anti-Phishing for your domain.

If you signed in as a Domain Admin with a link that doesn't name your own mailbox, you see only the **Domain Admin** menu.

A domain admin can see how much mail each mailbox in the domain received, but can't read other people's messages. Only your own messages appear in **My Messages**.

System administrators see a different menu for the whole server. See [Use the Admin Console](https://help.spamfoo.com/guides/admin-console).

The top right corner also has:

- **Your role:** **User** or **Domain Admin**. A domain admin also sees their domain name under it. If you signed in with a link, the role menu also has **Log out**.
- **A Domain picker**, when your sign-in link lets you manage more than one domain. Choose the domain to work on.
- **A language menu** to change the dashboard language.
- **A light bulb button** to switch between light mode and dark mode.

## Troubleshooting

### SpamFoo Dashboard Unavailable

**Cause:** The SpamFoo service on the mail server is starting, stopped, or not responding.

**Fix:** Wait a minute. The page refreshes on its own when the service is back. If it keeps happening, contact your administrator.

**Cause:** Your administrator hasn't turned on SpamFoo.

**Fix:** Ask your administrator to turn on SpamFoo for your domain.

### Pages Show No Mail

**Cause:** SpamFoo hasn't checked any mail for your mailbox in the selected time range.

**Fix:** Choose a longer time range in the top right of the page. If the page is still empty, ask your administrator whether SpamFoo is checking your mail.
